About Us

Who is Alice – Museum for Children at the FEZ Berlin?
Alice – Museum for Children at the FEZ Berlin is a children’s museum in the south east of Berlin. We create and present interactive exhibitions for children, young people and families which have successfully toured high-profile museums both in Germany and abroad. We tackle difficult and socially relevant topics and make them accessible for children and young people. Recent examples include “Tell Me, What Was the GDR?”, “Watch Out, Family!” and the touring exhibition “Tell Me Something About Death” which has already been presented in 15 German and European cities. Our “Welcome@HotelGlobal” exhibition won the American Promising Practice Award in 2012.

How Does Alice – Museum for Children at the FEZ Berlin Work?
All the Alice – Museum for Children at the FEZ Berlin exhibitions expressly encourage hands-on, interactive experiences. The topics are realised in exciting, interactive and child-orientated ways. The ultimate goal is to spark curiosity and a spirit of discovery in girls and boys so a visit to the museum becomes fun and leaves a lasting impression. In Alice – Museum for Children at the FEZ Berlin children can physically grapple with objects and ideas, ask questions, search out unfamiliar topics ‘hidden’ within their everyday experiences and, through active participation, find their own answers. Surprises from daily life, idiosyncrasies, thought-provoking and edgy issues are made physically tangible and brought to life.

Alice & Lucas – When Old Masters Are Rejuvenated
The POP UP CRANACH exhibition is a coproduction by Alice – Museum for Children at the FEZ Berlin and the Luther Memorials Foundation of Saxony Anhalt. With POP UP CRANACH, Alice – Museum for Children at the FEZ Berlin is, for the first time, leaving its permanent exhibition space in Berlin and moving from Wuhlheide to Potsdamer Platz and the impressive Gemäldegalerie of the National Museums in Berlin – because the gallery where the actual Cranach paintings hang is exactly the right place for an exhibition about the Cranachs for children and young people.

Cranach on Tour (touring exhibition)
June 2015 to November 2015: as part of the Federal State of Saxony Anhalt’s exhibition “Lucas Cranach the Younger – Discovering a Master”, Augusteum, Wittenberg
March 2016 to July 2016: Fortress Rosenberg, Kronach
